This year in preschool your child will be learning many skills that he/she will need to enter kindergarten. We will work on social skills and getting used to a structured school environment. The children will learn about friendships, getting along with others, listening, and exploring. The children will participate in a variety of activities, such as: story time, snack, music, movement, and more. We will work on one letter a week, focusing on recognition and sound. We will also review numbers, colors, shapes, seasons, holidays, families, and our community, among others. But most of all, I hope your child will delight in the wonder and magic of being a child. I hold this final hope very dear; "to preserve and enhance the sanctity of childhood, to treat your child with dignity and respect, in a nurturing, loving and fun atmosphere designed to encourage the best in your precious child."We will work on name writing. When helping your child write their name use a capital for the first letter and the following letters in lower case. Preschoolers love to use capital letters, so it is important that they learn the right way. We will also learn the Pledge of Allegiance. The Pledge of Allegiance is recited daily. Letters and their sounds are reviewed daily, as well as number recognition and counting. We will concentrate on learning numbers 1-20 and counting to 100. Counting, writing, recognizing and adding and some subtraction will be a few of the tasks accomplished'. By the time they are finished with preschool they will be reading three letter words, knowing some of their sight words, some of their word families, as well as reading small books. It is my goal; each of my students is prepared for their next milestone in life, that being kindergarten.
